Ice Monster!

Shopping at Sunway Pyramid has its perks. Authentic Taiwanese shaved ice is one of them! Ice Monster, which i found at first at Subang, near to Taylor's, is now near the cinema exit at Sunway.

And Iren says - the red bean ice ... quite authentic! Illicits memories of summer in Taiwan.

Well, all that pain and anguish over what to get for people this X-mas is alleviated by nice iceys.

EJ, Iren and Kiddo's dinner

Aaahhhhhh!
This is the dishes we had at Dain Ti Hill, Pavillion KL.
Some look more appetising is it? Well, the green sauce is actually pea sauce i think over Lion's Head. Quite nice, except the beef is truly much nicer!

The best thing tho is pretty little EJ, of course!! Sorry no photo. She'll publish it in facebook, i think.

Orange Almond Blueberry Muffins

okok, i got this recipe out of a book called Baked, and it tastes good, plus after you decipher the instructions and the measurement of the ingredients, you'll discover that it's quite simple to make. (but then so are all muffins). When in doubt, just use an approximation, i guess.

Grated zest of 1 orange (1 Tbsp)
1/2 cup orange juice (125 ml)
1/2 cup whole milk (125 ml)
2 large egg whites
115 gm of unsalted butter, melted & cooled (the recipe says 1/2 stick or 4Tbsp)
1/3 cup ground almond (i totally ignored this detailed explanation, this is an approximate measurement)
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup fresh blueberries (i got a small pack of 125 gm), washed and dried

1. Heat oven to 190 degrees C
2. Prepare a 12 cup muffin pan
3. Combine zest, juice, milk, egg whites, melted butter and whisk till fully mixed.
4. Combine ground almonds, flour, sugar, toasted almonds, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
5. Make a well and stir in the liquid into the dry ingredients till fully combined.
6. Fold in the blueberries.
7. Fill muffin cups till 3/4 full. Arrange 3 or 4 pieces of almond on top.
8. Bake in the centre of the over for 15 mins or till a skewer comes out clean. (took me about 30 mins)

Result: yummy and interesting
